Simple Food, Fancy Napkins

Time to hibernate (sort of, but not really)

I started writing this like a month ago and didn’t press publish. But anyway, here we are…

Where do I start? Well, I should reassure you that I’m not hanging up my apron. I’m just putting it away for a bit. Rather, leaving it in the drawer where it has been since … April?

Since I found my passion and started this journey a couple of years ago – falling in love with the food and service industry and then starting this blog last fall – I’ve lost my spark.

I thought working in a kitchen this summer would fuel the fire, because at the end of the day, I want to be in the kitchen and nowhere else. But after 8 hours in a 35 degree kitchen (yes, some days it was that hot), the last thing on my mind was working on new recipes for The Fancy Napkins. I thought starting a new job with regular office hours and weekends off would fuel my fire, because I would actually have time on my hands, but sitting at a desk has really drained me of motivation. I know I have all of the tools to make this a great place for people to find recipes, I just need to use these tools, and I’m not doing that right now. So I’m going to take a break. I know you’re thinking that it seems like I have been on one for the past several months, but really, The Fancy Napkins is all I have been thinking about without executing anything. So I’m taking a real break and when I’m ready to get back into the kitchen, you’ll know it cause I’ll be knocking on your door with a bag of groceries and a bottle of wine.

Thanks,

Laura
